The latest issue, Vol. 66 (1,200 yen), of creative magazine +81 features a special feature on COMME des GARÇONS's direct mail.
Started in 2008, the COMME des GARÇONS direct mail series features Rei Kawakubo designing a series of direct mail pieces for select artists or creators. +81 presents 22 pages of newly photographed direct mail pieces featuring Mondongo, Quey Brothers, Ai Weiwei, Assume Vivid Astro Focus, Rene Burri, Katsuhiro Otomo, and RAW VISION from 2008 to 2014, respectively.
This issue is the magazine's first fashion issue in five years. The book also features interviews with KENZO creative director Humberto Leon, Carol Lim, Gareth Pugh, Isabel Marant, and other designers, as well as introductions to creative agencies such as KiDS (Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, etc.), which creates advertising visuals, and Lloyd & Company (Bottega Veneta, Y-3, etc.), and Sun Produce, which directs shows. It's a well-deserved read for fashion enthusiasts.
