This fall, we'd like to recommend "clean skin and striking, bold hair and makeup." Learn the perfect balance of a ladylike, refined look with a sophisticated feel, and try a fresh take on the look.
Today, we spoke with Tomoko Okada, a hair and makeup artist active in advertisements and numerous fashion magazines, about her method for creating a trendy look with rich autumn makeup and how to achieve nuanced hairstyles using different styling products.

This fall, brown and orange colors that evoke the power of the earth are in style. Aim for unpretentious femininity. "For eyeshadow, I added a splash of color to the outer corner of my eye to add a sophisticated, playful touch and create a chic look. I chose brown mascara for a light look. The key to using blush is to find the perfect balance. For nail polish, I chose a red-orange that's perfect for autumn." (Hair & Makeup Artist Tomoko Okada)

■EYE
a. Spread the gold in a. slightly wider than the double eyelid, and apply the upper brown at the edge to tighten it. Apply gold to the lower eyelid as well, and add a touch of purple to the outer corner of the eye for an accent. Apply b. to the upper and lower lashes.

■CHEEK
Take the blush (c) on your finger and spread it softly around your cheekbones. Since the focus is on the eye makeup, it's fine to just give your skin a slight pink tint. Finishing it off with a blushless look will give you a clear, translucent impression.

■LIP
Apply the lip color (d) directly all over your face and pat it in with your finger. Choose a loose, uncontoured finish. A dark brown lip is a must-have this season, instantly updating your look.
