132 5. ISSEY MIYAKE, a project by Issey Miyake and the REALITY LAB team, will be showcasing a special exhibit by architect Ryuji Nakamura entitled "Folding a Circle." The exhibit will run from March 5th to April 1st. The exhibit features objects inspired by the brand's new "CIRCULAR" series. CIRCULAR, featured in the SS15 collection, is a circular 3D series in which fabric is cut into uniformly sized circles using an automatic ultrasonic cutting machine and then sewn together in several places according to a set pattern. While the folded form is circular, when worn, the countless arcs create a soft, unique silhouette. The object, inspired by the garment, is a circle six times the size of the garment, folded in different ways to create a variety of connected arcs. It expresses the joy of the moment when unexpected shapes emerge from a simple circle.

In addition to designing houses, stores, and other properties, Nakamura Ryuji has also worked on exhibition spaces, installations for art museums, and stage art. In the past, he has received the Good Design Award and the JCD Design Award.

The display will be on display at the Ginza and Semba stores of ELTTOB TEP ISSEY MIYAKE, as well as REALITY LAB ISSEY MIYAKE in Aoyama.
