ISSEY MIYAKE MEN presented their 2015-2016 Autumn/Winter collection in a show format on January 22nd at the Fondation Cartier's gallery space. The brand sought inspiration from Charles Rennie Mackintosh, the 19th-century Scottish architect, designer, and painter. Suits and coats featuring grid motifs reminiscent of Mackintosh's signature Hill House chair and oval motifs reminiscent of the Argyle armchair were crafted from a blend of domestically produced silk and polyester from Gunma Prefecture, creating a futuristic look. While featuring structured cuts, the silhouettes were kept simple to highlight the motifs. Other looks included silk scarves inspired by portraits of Mackintosh, as well as blanket styles reminiscent of tartan checks from Mackintosh's homeland, Scotland. The series, which featured Mackintosh's favorite rose motif, featured shirts with photo prints by photographer Satoshi Fujiwara and velvet coats with pearlized rose motifs. The collection, which began with suits and ended with evening gowns, was unified with a glamorous image from start to finish.
