A new RIMOWA pop-up opens exclusively at Isetan Men's. A collaboration with Alex Israel has been launched.

Event Date:2019.05.29-06.11
May 29, 2019
On May 29th, a RIMOWA pop-up store opened for a limited two-week period in the promotion section on the first floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Men's Building.

The pop-up store will also be the first in the world to release a limited-edition suitcase in collaboration with contemporary artist Alex Israel. Alex Israel is a Los Angeles-based artist known for designing the packaging for Louis Vuitton's fragrance "Parfum de Cologne."

The interior of the store will feature RIMOWA's iconic stickers, decorated with graphic motifs designed by Alex Israel. A sticker book of this design will also be released in mid-June. The collaborative suitcases feature a gradient color scheme that incorporates the paintings "Sky Backdrop" and "Untitled (Flat)," depicting the Los Angeles sky, and are available in two colors: pink blue and peach blue. Based on the classic aluminum suitcase "Original Cabin Plus," the body is colored using the innovative technique of anodizing, giving it the appearance of an art piece. Playful touches are scattered throughout the fine details, such as the color scheme of the wheels and lining, and the luggage tag featuring Alex Israel's profile.

"RIMOWA x Alex Israel" (292,000 yen each)

In addition to the pop-up store, the collaborative suitcases will also be available on the same day at the RIMOWA Store Ginza 7-Chome. They will also be available on the special Isetan online store page, which opened at 10:00 AM.

This isn't the only highlight of the pop-up store. A long-awaited new color has been released for RIMOWA's polycarbonate "Essential" series. It was released at Isetan Men's Building earlier than anywhere else in the world.

RIMOWA Essential
The new colors are inspired by the hues of "beautiful places on Earth." They include Coral Pink, inspired by the pink lakes of Western Australia; Saffron Yellow, inspired by the rapeseed fields of Tuscany, Italy; Sage Green, which expresses the deep green of the Lake District in northeastern England; and Slate Grey, inspired by Indonesian mines. The bag features a minimalist design, with the handle, zipper, logo, frame and other parts all in the same color.

The bags are available in three sizes: the smallest 36L Essential Cabin (H55 x W39 x D23cm / 71,000 yen), the 85L Essential Check-in L (H77.5 x W51 x D26.5cm / 93,000 yen), and the 101L Essential Trunk Plus (H80 x W37 x D41cm / 113,000 yen). Currently, they are only available at the pop-up and the Isetan online store. Sales will begin in early June at select RIMOWA stores and on the official RIMOWA website.

The Isetan online store, which marks the first online launch outside of the RIMOWA official website, will continue to carry the bags after the in-store pop-up period (until June 11th) until 10:00 AM on July 3rd.
