London-based fashion culture magazine i-D has released a photo book by Taschen showcasing the worlds of three of the world's leading fashion designers. The large, portfolio-sized book explores the history and artistic merit of each brand.
"Rei Kawakubo" encapsulates the world of Comme des Garçons designer Rei Kawakubo. Images by photographers Paolo Roversi, David Bailey, and Emma Summerton showcase her unique sensibility, which has always rebelled against established ideas and has been expressed across a wide range of genres, including fashion, furniture, architecture, and graphic design.
"Yohji Yamamoto" traces Yohji Yamamoto's work back to the 1980s and examines his designs, which combine the avant-garde and the classic. It explores Yamamoto's free-spirited world, which produces garments that are sometimes challenging but always beautiful. Images include those by Paolo Roversi, Max Vaducal, Nick Knight, and others.
Vivienne Westwood is the designer who reawakened British fashion. This summer, she was named a symbol of British creativity by the British government and is known as one of the most iconic designers. "Vivienne Westwood" traces her career from her early days as a designer to the present, introducing her thinking with images by Juergen Teller, Nick Knight, Chen Man, and others.
