Bread, a botanical market, a Children's Day workshop... Come to the "New Festival" this Golden Week!

Event Date:2019.04.29-05.06
Apr 18, 2019
CASICA, a complex space in Shinkiba, Tokyo, will be hosting a "New Festival" event for adults and children alike for six days during Golden Week: April 29th and 30th, and May 1st, 4th, 5th, and 6th.

CASICA is a complex space that brings together items and things necessary for people's lives, such as furniture, products, art, design, artisans and workshops, food, and health, and develops them in a uniquely styled space. On holidays, it is a popular spot that bustles with people visiting with family, colleagues, and friends. This second annual New Ennichi event, themed around a new festival, will be split into two parts: the first part, on April 29th and 30th and May 1st, will feature a festival in honor of Children's Day, while the second part, on May 4th, 5th and 6th, will feature a botanical market in honor of Greenery Day. The first part, Children's Day, will feature a diverse lineup of vendors, including Ehon Yarusubanban Kaisha, a secondhand bookstore specializing in vintage picture books from Japan and abroad, primarily from the 1950s to 1970s, including those from Japan, the Czech Republic, Russia, and Hungary; BAKEMAN, a small bakery in Omori; Katakana, a souvenir shop offering traditional crafts, local specialties, and stationery from all over Japan; Masayo Sugimoto, which sells juices and cocktails made with plenty of child-friendly fruits and healthy herbs; Taiyo no Iro Art and Craft Studio, which will hold workshops on making uniquely shaped vegetable stamps; and DOLLSSAN, a stuffed animal retailer.

In the second half of the event, "Greenery Day," there will be a selection of products for creating landscape bonsai, Grand Cactus, a cactus and succulent specialty store, and SEED, a label that handles gardening supplies for enjoying home gardening. There will be stalls related to plants, horticulture, and vegetable gardens, such as STORE and 1012TERRA, known for its stained-glass terrariums for hydroponics. There will also be a wide variety of food, including vegetable sales from Kiredo, a vegetable producer in Yotsukaido City, Chiba Prefecture, pita sandwiches, seasonal vegetable porrages, and bread from Kaijuya, a famous bakery in Tachikawa that is known only to those in the know.
