Breitling Launches Limited Edition Navitimer Watch Honoring the Last Legendary Boeing 747 Jet

Jan 25, 2023
As the final 747 rolls off the Boeing production line, Breitling has unveiled a limited-edition Navitimer to celebrate the legendary jet that revolutionized air travel.

Known as the "Queen of the Skies," the Boeing 747 was destined to change air travel forever from the moment it first rolled down the runway in 1969. With two aisles and two decks, it could carry twice as many passengers as the next largest jetliner and fly over 5,000 nautical miles—truly the original jumbo jet.

The Boeing 747 revolutionized commercial aviation, enabling a new generation of air travelers to fly long-haul flights and connecting the world as never before. As Boeing nears the end of its 747 fleet, Breitling celebrates this groundbreaking aircraft by launching a special edition Navitimer, limited to 747 pieces.

"What better way to commemorate this groundbreaking jumbo jet than with an equally groundbreaking pilot's chronograph," said Breitling CEO Georges Kern. "The Boeing 747 brought style to the skies, just as the Navitimer brought the passion of aviation to style-conscious watch enthusiasts."

The Navitimer, developed by Breitling, was originally conceived in 1952 for the International Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). It would go on to become the standard for pilot watches throughout the golden age of civil aviation, featuring a rotating slide rule that allowed for in-flight calculations.

A Tribute to an Aviation Legend
The Navitimer Boeing 747 features the AOPA logo at 12 o'clock. This timepiece showcases the heritage of pilot's chronographs. The dial color echoes the livery of the first Boeing 747 aircraft. It features a cream dial, black subdials, and a red and white slide rule with blue accents. The inner slide rule subtly features the "Boeing 747" name. Another distinctive feature is the date window at 6 o'clock. Choose from a black alligator leather strap or a seven-link metal bracelet.

The caseback showcases the exceptional Breitling 01 Caliber (manufactured in-house). This movement boasts a power reserve of approximately 70 hours and is covered by a five-year warranty. The caseback features a special engraving that reads "One of 747" and "The Original Jumbo Jet." It is a passionate homage to the aircraft that has roamed the skies for over half a century and transformed the way we travel. The final Boeing 747, the 1,574th, is scheduled for delivery this year. The Navitimer Boeing 747 is available in Breitling boutiques and online.
