Founded in 1836, Glenfarclas continues to produce whisky in the traditional Highland style. The Grant family took over management in 1865, making it the longest-running family-run distillery in Speyside.
To commemorate 50 years of John Grant, the fifth-generation owner, joining the distillery, an extremely rare 50-year-old whisky has been bottled. It comes in a chic, elegant gift box with an edged Glencairn Crystal decanter.

<From John Grant, 5th Generation Head of the Distillery>
I am very proud to be able to release such a precious single malt whisky on this milestone 50 years since I joined the management of the distillery. I'm proud of everything we've achieved together as a distillery over the past 50 years, and I look forward to continuing to explore the finest whisky flavors and releasing even more incredible whiskies.

From Master Distiller Callum Fraser
This whisky is a testament to the skill and passion of the craftsmen of the time, and the foresight of the Grant family. Continuing traditional methods to produce the highest quality Highland single malt remains very important to Glenfarclas. After 50 years of maturation, this whisky is impeccably crafted and truly exciting.

【Aroma】
Marzipan, almond, and cedarwood. Gradually developing into stewed apple and dark chocolate.

【Taste】
Rich and smooth dark chocolate gradually reveals flavors of toffee and mixed peel. A sweet taste with a subtle smokiness. It has an incredibly smooth texture on the palate, with a gentle, smooth finish that lingers. A small amount of water brings out each element of the flavor even more.

About Glenfarclas

Glenfarclas, which means "lush green valley" in Gaelic, was founded in 1836 in Speyside, the Highlands of Scotland. Home to more than half of Scotland's distilleries, this region is blessed with fresh air and good water, is a major producer of barley, and is also rich in peat, which is used as fuel, making it an ideal place for whiskey production. Since the Grant family purchased the distillery in 1865, it is one of the few distilleries still committed to producing whisky in the traditional Highland style. Its timeless, reliable flavor continues to captivate whisky lovers around the world.

[Glenfarclas's Commitment]

◆The Finest Spring Water and Non-Peat Malt

Glenfarclas's brewing water is pure spring water that springs from Ben Rinnes, Scotland's highest mountain, towering behind the distillery. With its own water source halfway up the mountain, the distillery has a stable supply of high-quality spring water. The malt used is also non-peat malt, which does not involve the burning of peat at all.

◆Direct-fire distillation

We have consistently insisted on direct-fire distillation using gas burners, which is now very rare. We once experimented with indirect heating, which is more efficient and economical, but concluded that this did not bring out the unique character of Glenfarclas, so we continue to use the traditional direct-fire distillation method. We currently operate three sets of six bowl-type direct-fired stills, some of the largest in Speyside.

◆Sherry cask maturation

Alongside direct-fire distillation, we are also very particular about maturation in Oloroso sherry casks. Sherry casks are expensive, but we never use them just for finishing; we use sherry casks throughout the entire whisky.
By skillfully using a variety of raw spirits, from rich first fill to light and fourth fill, we express the diverse appeal of sherry cask single malt.

◆Dunnage maturation warehouse

The style of the maturation warehouse has also remained unchanged for over 100 years. The stock of approximately 100,000 barrels is matured in low dunnage maturation warehouses attached to the distillery. The 40 maturation warehouses vary in size, but they all have one thing in common: they only stack barrels up to three levels high. Due to the influence of the wind blowing down from Ben Rinnes Mountain, the angel's share is extremely low at 0.05% per year, and the maturation process proceeds slowly. The source of Glenfarclas's individuality also lies in the company's unchanging commitment to the maturation environment.
