Sandwiches are invented! Smiles' new business "Nikai no Sandwich" opens at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo

On March 29th, Smiles will open a new business, "Nikai no Sandwich," on the second floor of the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, which is reopening after a three-year closure. The space offers a space where customers can savor the afterglow of art while sipping on standard and daily sandwiches and original drinks.

The concept of the shop is, "Sandwiches are like picture frames." The idea behind sandwiches is similar to the relationship between picture frames and art in food.

No matter how delicious a dish, it can only be enjoyed in a restaurant and on its plate. However, by putting it into a sandwich, it can be carried around in your hand and enjoyed wherever you like. The sandwich is truly an invention.

The sandwiches offered are not simply a simple smothered dish. They are luxurious masterpieces, featuring carefully crafted dishes prepared by the restaurant chef using vegetables sourced from contracted farmers and ingredients delivered directly from the farm, such as roasted mackerel with chili sauce and herbs, roasted Sasuke pork accented with yuzu pepper, and cocoa-flavored teriyaki chicken and coleslaw.

Sandwiches

After your meal, enjoy a dessert sandwich with homemade custard and fruit, or a sweet combination of milk soft serve ice cream and crispy Danish pastry. There is also a wide selection of drinks available, including coffee and fruit compote juice. Enjoy your meal in the restaurant or takeaway.

In addition, "100 Spoons," a family restaurant also run by Smiles, will open for the first time inside a museum. This is the restaurant's third location, following those in Azamino Gardens and Futako Tamagawa, and it will feature a variety of features that allow you to interact with art while you dine, a unique experience only a museum can offer. While waiting for your food to arrive, you can draw art with your children, and sometimes the family themselves may become part of the artwork as they enjoy their meal! A new art experience awaits everyone, from children to adults.
