"Bar Bar Shimokitazawa: Cheese and Spicy Bar Hopping - Everyone's Drinking Buddies" is a food and drink event where you can find your favorite bars and drinking buddies in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo, from February 14th to 24th. With over 15,000 participants to date, "Bar Bar Shimokitazawa" is now in its seventh year. This is a city-wide gourmet event where you can bar-hop at Shimokitazawa's unique restaurants. Shimokitazawa is a popular area with many charming backstreet establishments. This event allows anyone to easily explore these famous restaurants, known only to those in the know, and find their favorite while enjoying the exquisite, limited-time dishes that each restaurant has carefully prepared.
This time, the theme is hot and spicy dishes that are perfect for the chilly season, and cheese dishes that are especially popular among women. Event participants will be offered an event-exclusive dish created by each restaurant, along with a first drink, for 1,000 yen.
There are 67 limited-time menu items in total. You can enjoy a variety of unique limited-time menu items that are typical of Shimokitazawa at a great price, such as boiled beef stew with Japanese pepper, smoked Camembert fondue, super spicy fire-breathing chicken, and Iberian pork cheese teji kalbi.
During the event, if you wear a wristband (participation certificate) sold at Shimokita Square at the east exit of Shimokitazawa Station, participating stores, or the official website, you can enjoy a casual bar hopping experience at 71 participating restaurants with no cover charge, appetizer, or table charge.
The event will also feature a "Drinking Buddies Stamp Rally" using the smartphone app "I LOVE Shimokitazawa App." By scanning the QR codes of fellow participants and store staff, participants can collect stamps. Depending on the number of stamps collected, participants can enter a lottery for a chance to win luxurious prizes. Additionally, during the event, a points-back campaign will be held for "Shimokita Coin," a digital local currency that was launched in the Shimokitazawa area in September 2018.
