New York-based artist Tom Sachs creates works described as "handmade readymades," such as a toilet bowl made with the Prada logo and a McDonald's value meal wrapped in Hermès wrapping paper. He has participated in numerous exhibitions around the world. In Japan, he made waves by exhibiting a giant Hello Kitty statue at "KittyEX.", a 30th anniversary event for Hello Kitty. He has attracted worldwide attention for his work exhibited at Milano Salone and the Venice Biennale Architecture Exhibition, as well as for his collaboration with Nike.

This exhibition sees him, who has a unique perspective and deep respect for Japanese culture, take a serious look at the tea ceremony (chakai, sado). His fresh and joyful view of Japan as a foreigner provides a valuable opportunity to rediscover values and worldviews that we Japanese have overlooked.
