Dress Camp's Toshikazu Iwatani presents his first collection at TO BE CHIC at Sanyo Shokai's 2015-2016 AW exhibition

May 22, 2015

Sanyo Shokai held a 2015-2016 Autumn/Winter women's clothing exhibition and press conference on May 20th. Their brand, TO BE CHIC, unveiled its first collection under new director Toshikazu Iwatani. TO BE CHIC's 2015 Autumn/Winter women's collection, the brand's first under the new director, featured items with a 1950s theme and a chic, mature feel. Classic and elegant silhouettes, such as I-line tunic dresses, barrel-line outerwear, and flared skirts, were enhanced with original prints for a modern touch. Iwatani, who debuted at DRESSCAMP in 2003, has cultivated a unique worldview through decorative and powerful designs. With this noteworthy designer, TO BE CHIC aims to enhance its brand value and attract new customers. Furthermore, the exhibition as a whole featured numerous collaborative projects with other brands and industries. To Be Chic has announced collaborative products with hat brand AKIO HIRATA and accessory brand Atelier Someka, while Mackintosh Philosophy has announced collaborative products with popular London bookstore magMA BOOKS.

In addition, Sanyo Shokai as a whole will be promoting recycled feathers, "Green Down," as part of its social contribution activities, as one of its core businesses in the second half of the year. Last year, the company became the first in Japan to use recycled down in clothing, which caused a great stir, and this spring the organization was incorporated as a general incorporated association and launched as the "Green Down Project."
