Kate Spade New York is releasing a limited-edition capsule collection ahead of the Spring 2019 debut of new creative director Nicola Glass. The collection will be available for a limited time at four locations nationwide, starting with a pop-up shop on the first floor of the handbag section of the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building on November 28th.
The concept of Nicola's new Kate Spade New York is "optimistic femininity." The brand has evolved into one that exudes optimism and confidence, while also offering a warm and comfortable sensibility. While respecting the brand's core DNA, modern color palettes and authentic designs, Nicola continues to develop the brand's unique identity in her own unique way. While drawing inspiration from the brand's origins, each season sees the brand cementing core elements common to all categories.

Let's start with the "spade" itself. Spades appear throughout the collection. Spade-shaped prints, hardware, and motifs are sometimes boldly and sometimes subtly expressed.

Nicola's capsule collection, which includes the crossbody bag "Nicola" (53,000 yen to 66,000 yen), the leather bucket bag "Dolly" (60,000 yen to 74,000 yen), and the geographic print scarf (12,000 yen), incorporates the spade into its iconic design, and many of these items were shown at the runway show at New York Fashion Week held in September this year.

The "nicola" is a beautiful crossbody bag with a rounded silhouette, featuring smooth, scratch-resistant leather and a color combination, and meticulous attention to detail from the pocket cutting to the hardware. It features a unique turnlock closure that transforms from a spade to a heart, and is a signature piece of Nicola's first collection. The same silhouette is available in a wide variety of designs, including a 3D-printed spade flower (a flower motif consisting of four spades) and a more subtle enamel spade.

"Dorie" is a bucket-shaped bag woven with countless handcrafted leather spades. The beautiful removable pink inner bag changes its appearance, making it a high-quality item suitable for both casual and party wear throughout the year.

The collection will be available exclusively at the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building 1st floor Handbags section from November 28th to December 11th, at Hankyu Umeda Main Store 1st floor Promotion Space 12 from December 5th to 11th, at the special venue next to the south escalator on the 1st floor of Nagoya Takashimaya from December 19th to 25th, and at Ginza Mitsukoshi 1st floor Global Message from December 26th to 31st.
