Located in Minami-Aoyama, a district lined with designer shops, logi (Logi) welcomes you into its semi-basement store with a refreshing, lightly spicy scent and distinctive flowers that exude a unique presence.
Since opening in 2009, logi's bag arrangements have been a popular choice for arrangements. These bouquet bags can be carried over the shoulder or across the body, making them a friend to both the flowers and the buyer. They contain gel-like water, allowing the arrangements to be enjoyed for two or three days.
The store's concept is "Heart-warming Flowers." "I select flowers that make an impact, even a single one," says designer Yoko Uda. Uda started working at a florist to study colors while studying fashion. She has been involved with flowers for 20 years and has been independent for 10 years.
The main flowers they source are king proteas, native to South Africa, dahlias, hydrangeas, roses, and orchids. He places a premium on listening, attentively considering the client's requests, the occasion, and the recipient's preferences. The Eve Piazze rose, lavishly adorned with vibrant, soft pink petals and recommended for proposals, exuded a refreshing, sweet fragrance that left me wanting to smell it again and again.
Among the unique flowers on display at logi, a gerbera caught my eye—a familiar sight. Its vibrant, almost fluorescent color and exceptional size made it unlike any gerbera I'd ever seen.
"The gerberas from this producer have excellent color, size, and longevity. Just as the taste of vegetables varies greatly depending on the grower, so too do flowers, so we're particular about our growers," says Uda.
The vibrant vitality of the flowers on display at logi isn't just due to their individual personalities. In order to provide customers with the best products, each carefully cultivated flower is carefully watered and displayed with care. The reason why "logi's flowers last so long" is likely due to the meticulous care and attention paid to their care by the growers.
They are especially popular among people in their 30s and 40s, beloved by local residents, stylists, editors, and other creative professionals. While sometimes tinged with a hint of venom, their dignified, resilient flowers satisfy discerning customers, and it's easy to see why.
When I asked for an arrangement that was uniquely logi, they created a bouquet featuring three types of flowers: cocktail purple (purple carnations), komachi (pink carnations), and paphiopedilum. The key to this arrangement was the deliberate mixing of bold flowers, intentionally combining distinctive colors and shapes.
If you want to deliver surprise and joy beyond the reach of a typical flower gift, or if you want a flower that's not just a supporting role, or one that makes an impact even with just one flower, then logi is the place to go.
