Chitose Abe's sacai held its Spring/Summer 2019 women's collection show at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. While the brand has previously showcased hybrids of various materials and items, this season, while maintaining its previous styles, the brand sought a new equilibrium, particularly through a search for balance. The key piece this season is the military cape. Trench detailing creates an asymmetrical look, while retaining full functionality. Tailored pieces like cocktail jackets and blazers feature cape elements, or oversized trench sleeves on one sleeve. Military-inspired pieces are softened by lace inlays or cocktail jacket bodices. Trench detailing is mixed into checked pieces, paired with pleated organza skirts for a lighter look. Hand-painted floral print items with a vintage feel were tailored into military-inspired pieces, creating a striking contrast between hard and soft.

The collection as a whole was like a series of pieces taken apart and then put together like a puzzle. However, the cleverness of the combinations and the sense of detail distribution are unique to this brand, and this season they made a strong impression.
