CENTRESTAGE, an Asian fashion event hosted by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, took place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from September 5th to 8th. This year marked the third year of the event, and approximately 230 cutting-edge brands from 22 countries participated. Buyers and media from around the world were welcomed, and the event featured a joint exhibition and runway shows. It was a valuable four-day event showcasing the Asian fashion scene, including Hong Kong, to the world.
The theme for the 2018 event was "Tommorow Lab." The exhibition hall had a futuristic, outer space-like atmosphere, with thematic zones "ICONIC," "ALLURE," and "METRO." Eight Japanese brands also exhibited, including RIPPLE, a Kiryu-based brand specializing in clothing made with natural materials from Gunma Prefecture.

The highlight of the Centre Stage was "CENTRESTAGE ELITES," a joint show held on the first day by three of Asia's most acclaimed brands. Invited brands from Japan included FACETASM, created by Hiromichi Ochiai, IDISM, a duo from Hong Kong consisting of Cyrus Wong and Julio Ng, and Ms MIN, from mainland China, who presented their Spring/Summer 2019 collection shows. The venue was so crowded that there were standing room only, indicating the high level of attention from all walks of life.

The bold color palette and contrast of "Idism," along with flared hems that fluttered with every step, graced the runway with elegance.

A variety of brands also held shows over the four days of the event, many of which appeared in the shows while also exhibiting at their exhibition booths, giving a glimpse into the true worldview of each brand.
Hong Kong brand 112 mountainyam titled its Spring/Summer 2019 theme "FREEDOM" and presented a lineup of designs using graphics and feathers reminiscent of birds soaring freely. The first look featured a striking set with a three-dimensional silhouette and PVC construction. Similarly, Hong Kong brand "From Clothing of" reinterpreted a dress based on the concept of a men's suit, giving it a softer, more feminine impression. The structured pattern was accented with ribbons and lace, creating a feminine mood.
