The 10th TOKYO COFFEE FESTIVAL, one of Japan's largest coffee events, will be held for two days on September 29th and 30th in the courtyard of the United Nations University in Aoyama, Tokyo.

TOKYO COFFEE FESTIBAL began in the fall of 2015. This year, the 10th event will see the venue expand with the aim of becoming Asia's largest coffee event, bringing together around 70 roasters, coffee shops, coffee accompaniments, and items, as well as the traditional coffee tasting event.

This coffee tasting event, which will feature over 100 different types of coffee from Japan and abroad, will be enjoyed in original ceramic mugs, rather than disposable cups. The illustrations on the cups are by young artists Senda Hana and Takumi Morohashi. As quantities are limited, coffee will be served in paper cups once they run out.

As a new way to enjoy coffee beyond just drinking it, original goods made from recycled coffee powder will be available for the first time, including coffee-dyed T-shirts and soy candles. When you light a candle made from coffee grounds collected at the previous venue, the gentle aroma of coffee that has returned to the venue through time will waft through the air. In addition, the coffee-dyed T-shirts have been carefully dyed using coffee grounds from the shop, with the cooperation of ROKUMEI COFFEE in Nara Prefecture.

Other events will also be held at the venue, including a performance by Melbourne-based traditional jazz band The Lagerphones, as well as an espresso booth where you can enjoy espresso drinks from six different shops over the two days. On September 30th, barista Ishitani, winner of the 2017 Japan Barista Championship, will appear as a guest barista, serving up coffee dishes made with UCC's Largo espresso beans, which have been revamped to celebrate their 10th anniversary since their release.
In addition, from 1pm to 2pm on September 29th, a talk session entitled "TALKING ABOUT ASIAN COFFEE - Learning about coffee production in Southeast Asia" will be held in the Farmer's Market Community Lounge, an indoor space adjacent to the venue, featuring Key Coffee Co., Ltd.'s Keiji Sato, who has experience working in Southeast Asia, and LIGHT UP COFFEE's Yuma Kawano. The session is limited to 40 people, and advance reservations can be made on the event's official website (https://tokyocoffeefestival.co/).
Also, from 6pm to 9pm on September 29th, the "JAPAN AEROPRESS CHAMPIONSHIP 2018 Finals," in which baristas from all over the world will compete to determine Japan's representative for "THE WORLD AEROPRESS CHAMPIONSHIP," will be held in an adjacent venue, making for a fulfilling two days. The venue isn't the only place to enjoy coffee. The second issue of the event's free paper, "TOKYO COFFEE FESTIVAL paper," includes a map showing coffee shops within walking distance of the venue, allowing visitors to enjoy coffee in each area. Additionally, Tokyo Bike, a bicycle manufacturer based in Yanaka, Taito Ward, Tokyo, is offering a bicycle rental service for 500 yen for 90 minutes to event visitors. During the event, a "TOKYO COFFEE RIDE" cycling tour will be held, featuring a barista from ONIBUS COFFEE, taking visitors to recommended coffee shops. Advance reservations are required on the event's official website.
The venue area has been expanded, allowing for a deeper enjoyment at the "TOKYO COFFEE FESTIVAL." Why not try finding your favorite cup of coffee?
