Common Questions for the Nine Artists Performing Live Painting at "SOUL CAMP 2018 at ISETAN"

--When you hear the themes "SOUL CAMP" and "Hip Hop," what kind of painting do you imagine you're trying to paint?

"As always, I want to paint a pop and exciting picture. Also, although it's a still image, I'd like to create one that allows you to feel the movement and emotions of the characters in the picture. I think this will probably be the largest canvas I've ever painted, so I'm looking forward to that as well."


--Please tell us about your enthusiasm for performing a "live painting" in the unusual environment of Isetan Shinjuku.

"Ever since I moved to Tokyo, Isetan Shinjuku is the first department store that comes to mind, and I feel like they have a consistent and unwavering core. It's an honor to be able to do a live painting there, but I'm also very nervous right now. I want to create a piece that doesn't bring down the dignity of Isetan."


--What aspects of your work would you like customers to notice?

"I would be happiest if someone saw my paintings or the way I paint and thought, 'I want to try painting too.' I hope that that sense of joy is conveyed to them."
