"Photobook Drinking Party," an art book fair specializing in photobooks, will be held on October 20th and 21st. The venue will be VACANT in Harajuku, marking its first time in three years.


Photobook Drinking Party is an art book fair where publishers and galleries specializing in photobooks set up tables. Up until now, the event has been held in Tokyo and Osaka, with a record of attracting a total of 1,000 visitors over the two days.

Organizers flotsam books and roshin books are holding two events, "Photobook Drinking Party" and "Photobook JP," but compared to "Photobook JP," which aims to be an international photobook fair, the Photobook Drinking Party aims to create a more intimate atmosphere between exhibitors and visitors, where you can casually chat with people in the publishing industry over a drink and even purchase photobooks on display.



In addition, to coincide with the event, they have produced a zine that will be distributed exclusively at the venue. The zine was edited by Miyu Kotani, a model active in the fashion and culture scenes. Based on her theme, "Give You My Throbbing," the zine commissioned works from 14 writers and artists with whom the group interacts on a daily basis. The zine is limited to 800 copies and can only be purchased at the photobook drinking party. The participating artists are edenworks (flower artist), Miyu Kotani (model), Naoko Kumagai (photographer), Daisuke Shimada (filmmaker), Akira Nakano (model), Tetsuya Nagato (art director/movie director), Motohiko Hasui (photographer), Kohei Fukunaga (musician) from Ame no Parade, Riku Hoshika (graphic designer), Emma Maeda (model), Remi Matsuo (musician) from GLIM SPANKY, Kyosho Miyake (student), Aiwei foo (crossdisciplinary artist), and April lLee (musician/art director).

The venue will also feature a photo exhibition by up-and-coming photographer Kusano Yoko.
This is an event that can be enjoyed by both photobook fans and non-fans.
