Ginza Mitsukoshi, in collaboration with Fujitsu Limited, has opened a limited-time shop called "CARITE," where customers can easily rent (for a fee) high-quality attire for special occasions like weddings through an app. The event runs from August 1st to November 30th. The app allows users to register and stock their favorite items by scanning the QR code attached to each item, making them available for viewing and rental at any time. The app offers approximately 200 items from 13 brands and a chat function for styling consultations with in-store sales staff. Ginza Mitsukoshi's services are available from anywhere through the app. To celebrate the launch of the app, FASHION HEADLINE will be showcasing a selection of rental items and showcasing them in outfits. We will also be joined by stylist Chie Hosonuma and hair and makeup artist Aya Murakami, who handled the styling and makeup for this event, for a talk exploring the current state of dresses for weddings and parties. We're launching a six-part series of interviews covering six themes!

Shawls are worn for a variety of reasons, from covering up skin to adding a touch of glamour, and are one of the most common fashion accessories. However, with the dramatic increase in dress styles and the diversification of party styles, some are wondering if wearing a shawl is outdated. Wearing a shawl obscures the design of your dress and makes everyone look the same, so we don't recommend it. If you want to avoid exposing too much skin, it's better to choose a dress with sleeves. The all-lace dress from FLICKA that I used this time still manages to look glamorous, even with sleeves. FLICKA is a brand that offers dresses that can be worn both on and off the job. While dresses are often associated with sleeveless tops, there are many stylish designs available with sleeves these days, so give them a try.
FH: On the other hand, I've heard some people say that sleeved dresses can look unfashionable because they limit exposure. Do you have any tips for wearing them?
Hosunuma:By choosing a short necklace that fits the neck and draws the eye up, you can create a clean overall impression. Pairing it with voluminous earrings is another solution. Since the dress this time had a slightly sweet design, I chose all black accessories to tie the look together. When you're trying to look glamorous, you tend to "load" with gorgeous accessories, but keeping things compact and neat without cluttering is also an important point when dressing up. Considering the overall balance and where you place the accents can completely change the impression.

FH: When you're trying to look glamorous, you can't help but go for decorative accessories. It's very instructive to be mindful of where the eye is drawn. Also, the classic braided hairstyle that perfectly matched Hosonuma's styling looked fresh in this look.
Hair & Makeup: Murakami Aya (hereafter, Murakami):The lace dress is light, so if you style your hair in a fluffy way, it will look too sweet all over. Therefore, I used styling products to add shine and then neatly braided it for a neat, tight finish. Adding weight with gel or wax all over will make it look even more mature.
FH: When you wear a shawl, your back gets voluminous, so you tend to style your hair up to make it look neater. Come to think of it, the idea that dressing up = puffed hair is pretty much established in Japan...
Murakami:If you're going for a stylish look to complement your dress, a hairstyle like this can really make a difference. Anyone can easily do a braid, and I hope that people will enjoy the mature look of dressing up by tying their hair up tightly. It's not just complicated styling or putting your hair up that leads to a glamorous look, so I hope this style will be recognized as a new approach.
