The Japanese edition of the Portland, USA, lifestyle magazine "KINFOLK," titled "KINFOLK MAGAZINE JAPAN," was published today, June 4th, by Neko Publishing. The Japanese edition's editor-in-chief is Kota Engaku of the same company.
A launch event, including a talk show, was held at Daikanyama T-Site the day before the release to celebrate the publication. Nathan Williams, the editor-in-chief of the original Kinfolk magazine, and his editorial team visited Japan. Nathan commented, "We're thrilled to be able to share our worldview with Japanese readers in Japanese. We decided to publish this book in response to requests from readers. We've been preparing a Japan-themed video for the digital edition for several months, and we're looking for collaborators."
The digital edition will be available in Japan in two weeks. Further plans include Russian and Korean editions, as well as the publication of the magazine's first cookbook. Various events will be implemented, including small-group workshops known in Japan as "Kinfolk Dinners."
Kinfolk was launched in 2011. It proposes a lifestyle based on the concept of "small gatherings," where close friends and family gather around the table to enjoy workshops, cooking, meals, and more. The beautiful visuals created in collaboration with many collaborators, including photographers, designers, and illustrators, are also popular, and the magazine has fans all over the world. Kinfolk Dinners, which put Kinfolk's small gatherings into practice, are held monthly by volunteers in approximately 25 countries around the world.
The event was attended by people from retail and the media, including HP France, Beams, and the editorial team of Sekai Bunka Publishing's new magazine, Gold.
