Christmas-themed interior exhibition "Ba to Ma" currently being held at Laforet Harajuku

May 24, 2013

The fourth edition of "Bato-ma," a joint exhibition of interior design, art, and products organized by H.P. FRANCE, opened on the 22nd and will run through May 26th at Laforet Museum Harajuku. From the 24th to the 26th, admission is open to the public for a 500 yen fee, and some products can be purchased on site.

Starting this year, the exhibition has been held twice a year, in May and October. This first May exhibition focuses on Christmas, an important sales season in the interior design market, and features items perfect for gifts and decorative pieces to enhance a space. Also exhibiting at the exhibition are a jewelry brand, making its first full-scale proposal, and a creative unit specializing in food direction and catering for parties.

The interior of the venue features a line of children's items inspired by a Christmas-like streetscape. This scaffolding project involves dismantling and reconstructing WOODPRO scaffolding boards, which were used as stage sets at the Designing exhibition held in Fukuoka in May. The scaffolding will be dismantled once the exhibition is complete, and the next location will be the "NEWLAND" cultural and commercial complex in Kumagaya, Saitama Prefecture. The entrance will also feature a diorama by design firm Kloka, inspired by a "dreamlike Christmas town." Masato Baba, director of H.P. France's "Ba to Ma" (Between Places) division, said, "As the next step, we proposed a Christmas exhibition. We're considering various options, including holding the next exhibition in October in two locations. We want to continue to do things that surprise everyone."
