MUVEIL is holding a photo exhibition by photographer Toshihisa Sakakibara, with whom the brand collaborated on its 2018 Pre-Fall collection. The exhibition, themed "CHATS," will run from June 1st to 24th at GALLERY MUVEIL in Minami-Aoyama.
MUVEIL's 2018 Pre-Fall collection features Romy Schneider, an actress active in the 1960s and 70s, as its muse. The collaboration with photographer and pet groomer Sakakibara was inspired by the many kittens that appeared in Romy's film, "Poccaccio '70." This season's iconic cat-print T-shirts and sweaters incorporate MUVEIL's signature playfulness against a classic period backdrop.

The exhibition features Sakakibara's work, which deeply moved MUVEIL designer Michiko Nakayama. His sculpted photographs of natural cats and dogs clearly reveal his loving gaze. The venue also features limited-edition items, including special "CHATS"-themed goods.
During the exhibition, Gallery MUVEIL will host two workshops. On June 10th, a "Cat Embroidery Workshop" will be held by a designer who teaches embroidery at Gallery MUVEIL. On June 14th, Susie, president of the French craft supply store "La Droguerie," will visit Japan to hold a workshop.
In addition, a pop-up shop will be held by "LOVE & Co.", which rescues stray cats from its office and sells a general store coffee modeled after rescued cats. A portion of the profits will be used to fund rescue activities.
