Jun 10, 2013

Fashion editor Grace Mirabella was born in the United States on June 10, 1929. After studying economics at Skidmore College, she worked at the luxury department store Saks Fifth Avenue. In 1952, she became an editor at American Vogue, working as an assistant to Diana Vreeland, who was the editor-in-chief at the time. When Vreeland retired in 1971, she was promoted to editor-in-chief. During her 17 years as editor-in-chief, she transformed Vogue's previously high-end focus into a more consumer-oriented approach, significantly increasing circulation. Since her retirement in 1988, Anna Wintour has served as editor-in-chief, a position she continues to hold to this day. In 1990, she teamed up with media mogul Rupert Murdoch to launch the fashion magazine Mirabella, which continued until 2000. Her books include "Vogue as Seen Through Vogue," which chronicles her experiences in the fashion industry, and "Tiffany," which introduces the worldview and history of Tiffany & Co.
