Mackintosh has announced a collaborative collection with 99% IS-, a streetwear brand created by Korean designer Bajou. The collection will be available for pre-sale at Dover Street Market Ginza (DSMG) starting July 20th. The lineup includes rubberized coats adorned with custom studs, 99% IS-'s signature design. The men's collection features silver studs on a black body, while the women's collection features small gold studs hand-stamped onto a black or leopard print body. Prices range from ¥200,000 to ¥300,000. "Mackintosh was seeking a partner with a different brand image, and this collaboration was decided upon," said Bajou. "At first glance, Mackintosh and 99% IS- seem like polar opposites, but they share a common denominator: a commitment to crafting the garments they create." The collection will be developed over two seasons, with the first collection pre-released at DSMG followed by distribution primarily at Mackintosh retailers in Japan. Born in 1984, Bajou is 29 years old. After dropping out of Esmod in Korea, he spent time in London before coming to Japan. He launched 99% IS- in the Spring/Summer 2011 season and is scheduled to participate in Tokyo Collection this October. He became fascinated with punk after seeing a live performance by the band "Cry Not" at a live music venue in sixth grade. Celebrities like Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Big Bang, and Exile have worn 99% IS- on stage and in private. The 99% IS- collection will also be featured at a triple collaboration event between fashion blogger Rei Shito, TOKYO Kaihoku, and the magazine "Soen," held at Center Park on the second floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building from June 12th to 25th.
