A special talk show, "Trompe l'oeil in the Fashion World," will be held at 7:30 PM on August 27th at Bunkamura The Museum in Shibuya, Tokyo, as part of the "Evolving Optical Illusions II" exhibition. "Trompe l'oeil," which means "to fool the eye" in French, is a design term that frequently appears not only in optical illusion techniques but also in the fashion industry. Collections incorporating this visual effect have been presented both in Japan and abroad. Jean Paul Gaultier and Maison Martin Margiela often use this technique. This time, we have invited Kyoko Tanaka, editor-in-chief of Numero TOKYO, and Tamae Hirokawa, designer of SOMARTA, to introduce trompe l'oeil in fashion and explore the world of this exhibition from the perspectives of an editor and a designer.
Tickets (2,000 yen) are currently being purchased through the online ticket service "My Bunkamura," and will end once capacity is reached.
