Starbucks Launches New Espresso Affogato Frappuccino®, a Bittersweet and Slightly Sweet "Adult Frappuccino®"

May 8, 2018

Starbucks will launch the new "Espresso Affogato Frappuccino," a bittersweet "adult Frappuccino" on May 9th. The Espresso Affogato Frappuccino was born from Starbucks' desire to share the deliciousness of espresso with more people. It's inspired by the affogato, a way to enjoy espresso that Starbucks rediscovered while traveling in Milan, and is a Frappuccino® expression. The freshly brewed espresso shot and the rich, refreshing cream aftertaste create an exquisite harmony of bittersweetness, creating an addictive flavor perfect for early summer. The espresso is made using a Ristretto shot (brewed with the same amount of coffee beans as usual but three-quarters the amount of water) to allow for a more powerful aroma and gentle bitterness. What's more, to enhance the flavor, brown sugar is added, just like the classic Italian way of drinking espresso.

The cream used in the base, which has a strong milk flavor like freshly squeezed milk and a clean aftertaste, brings out the espresso even more, and the marbled pattern that remains for only a short time is beautiful. The fact that there is no whipped cream on top is also a special feature of this "Adult Frappuccino".

Prices are: Short 510 yen, Tall 550 yen, Grande 590 yen, Venti 630 yen. It will be on sale at Starbucks stores nationwide (with some exceptions) until July 1st (while supplies last).
