Umitota, a lodging facility directed by Akira Minagawa, designer of minä perhonen, and designed by Shinichiro Ogata, president of SIMPLICITY, opened on April 14th on Teshima Island in Kagawa Prefecture.

Umitota is a rental property where guests can experience the simple nature of Teshima at their own pace and style. With a terrace connecting the rice terraces to the south and the Seto Inland Sea to the north, a loft and bathroom overlooking the sea, and a library with a fireplace, guests can find a variety of comfortable spots within this private home to suit the season, weather, and purpose of their visit. Depending on the season, guests can also participate in activities like rice planting, harvesting, and vegetable harvesting, or enjoy cooking in the spacious, functional kitchen, making for a more active stay.

The mother-of-pearl inlay work that decorates the exterior walls was created by Minagawa, along with Teshima residents and other stakeholders, who scattered over 10,000 shell pieces as part of a workshop. The interior of the inn features fabrics by minä perhonen and other carefully selected items to create a special stay. Minagawa also designed the Umitota logo. Reservations can be made on the website (https://www.umitota.jp).
