Nicolai Bergmann has been based in Japan for over 20 years, creating unique designs that blend Japanese and Western elements, making the most of inspiration from Japan's unique traditions, culture, and climate. He is always challenging himself to bring new art to everyone, whether it be designs created through flowers or objects made from a variety of materials.

He always wanted to make the inspiration he found in Japan more concrete and leave a lasting impression, and for many years he searched for a spacious location that would allow him to do so. Then, one day on a holiday, he visited Hakone and came across this land in Gora, Hakone. Nicolai Bergmann Hakone Gardens is a one-of-a-kind place that incorporates Nicolai's floral designs into nature, connecting people and nature through Nicolai Bergmann's worldview.

Nicolai Bergmann's "Mobile Garden" is a garden in the midst of nature that changes with each visit. In spring, everything turns pink with cherry blossoms, in early summer the garden is enveloped in the beautiful gradations of hydrangeas, in autumn the silver color of Japanese pampas grass appears in a fantastical way, followed by the winter nature that shines bravely in the cold. Nicolai's sensibility resonates with the nature of Hakone, allowing you to experience with all five senses the beauty of the garden, which changes with the seasons. Flowers bloom everywhere in the garden, dotted with floral art and objects created by Nicolai. The mobile garden serves as a shining beacon, adding color to the grounds, and reflects the artist's goal of leaving his work behind in Hakone.

Also take part in a "Nicolai Bergmann Hakone Gardens" tour guided by Nicolai Bergmann himself
Mitsukoshi Isetan Nikko Travel has organized a tour in which Nicolai Bergmann himself will guide the gardens, which cover an area of approximately 67,000 square meters. The gardens were built by the architect himself, after leveling the virgin land formerly covered in virgin forest and creating walkways, stairs, a pavilion, and even a cafe. Guests can enjoy a Danish course meal made with fresh ingredients from the Hakone area, prepared by a Danish chef, at NOMU hakone, a cafe within the park designed by Nicolai. Guests can also enjoy a two-day, one-night stay at Karaku, a hot spring inn in Gora, Hakone.
