Management consulting firm Shuhari will open a cafe restaurant called "Rensa" (13-1 Odenmacho, Chuo-ku, Tokyo) in Nihonbashi Odenmacho, Tokyo, on the 24th.
The restaurant will be located on the first floor of a 50-year-old building that used to be a kimono showroom, renovated to reflect the concept of "eating is connecting." The name "Rensa" reflects the emphasis on the connection (chain) between food producers and the customers who actually dine on the restaurant. Graphic designer Ichiro Higashiizumi is in charge of creative direction, while Hiroko Mihara, head of the catering unit Nanpu Shokudo, is in charge of food direction.
The restaurant will use rice and vegetables produced on Shuhari's own farmland, partnering with farmers across the country for any excess produce. The menu offers a balanced combination of vegetables, meat, beans, and dried goods. Many of the seasonings, sauces, and juices are homemade. New prepared dishes and teas have also been developed.
Set meals (1,000 yen) are served at lunchtime, sweets (from 480 yen) at teatime, and vegetable dishes, egg and meat dishes, and snacks to go with alcohol (from 480 yen) at dinnertime. A wide variety of drinks is also available. Opening hours are from 11:30am to 10pm. Closed on Sundays and public holidays.
Shuhari's main business is corporate consulting and business skills training, but it also operates a food and beverage business. Its operations include "Ashitane Marche," which sells vegetables produced at its own farm in Katori City, Chiba Prefecture, as well as vegetables and local specialties from partner farmers, and "Yasai no Kare," a mobile curry shop that uses pesticide-free vegetables. The company is headquartered in Odenmacho, Nihonbashi, and has a branch office in Vietnam.
