The winners of the Cheap Chic Weddings Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Contest, sponsored by Charmin, a U.S. toilet paper manufacturer, have been announced.
Participants created wedding dresses using only Charmin's toilet paper, glue, a needle, and thread. This year, over 1,100 designs were submitted. From the ten finalists, three were selected by public vote to compete in the finals held on the 6th in New York. The winner, Mimoza Haska, received $2,000. Last year's and the year before's winner, Susan Brennan, took second place, and Carol Touchstone from Florida came in third.
The winner, Mimoza Haska, won out of over 1,100 submissions, with her mini-length asymmetrical dress. The prize money was $2,000. The runner-up was Susan Brennan, who won last year and the year before. She designed a long dress with a large corsage at the bottom of the skirt. Third place went to Carol Touchstone from Florida, who created a random hem dress with strips of paper attached to the hem like fringe.
Although she did not win a prize, she also entered a work with a kimono motif titled "Springtime in Tokyo." The obi is decorated with carp and the shoulders are decorated with cherry blossoms.
