This year marks the sixth annual exhibition, and cutting-edge artists from Japan and abroad will present new works and valuable collections under the theme of "UP" in temples and shrines, historical buildings rich in Kyoto City, and modern contemporary architecture. Jean-Paul Goude, a renowned image maker active in a wide range of fields including photography and design, will exhibit his photographs and installations, a rare artist whose work continues to captivate audiences today. Photographer Masahisa Fukase, who has recently been attracting international attention, will exhibit portraits as well as abstract works such as his "HIBI" and "BEROBERO" series, in which Fukase himself painted over photographs of cracks. Frank Horvat will exhibit his influential masterpieces, his early journalistic works, and works from personal projects. This exhibition is a traveling exhibition from Chanel Nexus Hall. Yukio Nakagawa transcended the boundaries of traditional schools, producing original, avant-garde works that transcend the concept of "ikebana," and continued to create energetically until his death in 2012. This exhibition, held at Ryosokuin Temple (within Kenninji Temple), will feature Nakagawa's own photographs and calligraphy, as well as an installation in which curator Atsuo Katagiri arranges flowers in glass objects created by Nakagawa.

Featured in this exhibition are Izumi Miyazaki, a rising star born in 1994 whose self-portraits have garnered worldwide attention on Tumblr; Romuald Hazoumé, one of Africa's leading contemporary artists and a leading figure in the international scene; and "Drowning," a series of works capturing the experiences of people facing flood disasters that transcend geographical and cultural boundaries. The exhibition will also feature works by Gideon Mendel, known for his work on "The World," and Stephen Shames, whose "Power to the People" documented the Black Panthers and transcends the boundaries of documentary.

Other events for visitors include artist talks, weekend guided tours of the exhibition, concerts, and other special events, as well as kids' workshops. There will also be a nurturing program for young artists, where curators and other leading figures in the photography world from around the world will review applicants' portfolios, and participating artists will teach classes for students, amateurs, and professionals.
