French high jewelry maison Van Cleef & Arpels opened a new boutique in Shinsaibashi, Osaka on February 3, 2018.
Located in a highly accessible location at the intersection of Midosuji and Nagahori-dori, the starting point of Shinsaibashi, the boutique boasts the largest floor space of any boutique in Japan, spanning three floors (B1F, 1F, and 2F) with a total floor area of 636.68m², inviting visitors into the world of the maison. It also incorporates new initiatives, such as a gallery space in the basement, and aims to communicate the maison's unique style as a large-scale street-level store that leads the Kansai region.
The first floor will feature a comprehensive selection of jewelry, watches, and high jewelry, including the Maison's iconic "Alhambra" and "Perlée" collections, allowing visitors to experience the brand's world. The second floor will focus on the "Bridal" collection. A reception area will be set up by the windows facing Midosuji, allowing guests to relax and enjoy the brilliance of the diamonds in natural light. Furthermore, the basement level will feature Japan's first multi-purpose space with a kitchen. In addition to welcoming visitors to the Maison, it will also host events related to art and culture that resonate with the Maison's worldview.
Gold metal is delicately woven into the exterior walls, creating two shades of light and dark depending on the depth and lighting, conveying the sophistication of the Maison along with its predominant black color. Part of the interior features textiles from a long-established Nishijin weaver in Kyoto, showcasing the delicate savoir-faire that the Maison values through traditional Japanese craftsmanship.
