"Shimura's Kimono Mina's Obi," an event where you can enjoy a variety of combinations of kimonos by Atelier Shimura and obi by minä perhonen, will be held at TOBICHI2 in Minami-Aoyama from December 8th to 17th.

TOBICHI2 is an event space run by Hobonichi Itoi Shimbun (Hobonichi). This collaboration between the two brands was realized at Hobonichi's TOBICHI in November about two years ago, and this time too, the theme of "Meeting the New" remains the same, with an even deeper collaboration. Atelier Shimura will exhibit and sell approximately 10 kimono bolts, including new pieces, with around three pieces being displayed in rotation with variations.

Akira Minagawa of minä perhonen will exhibit and take orders for five obi patterns (starting at 100,000 yen), including two new designs designed specifically for this event: "Kazenotane" and "rosette." "Forest Dot" and "Grapes," popular at the previous event, will also be making a comeback with new threads and colors. All of the obi this time are original, with Atelier Shimura's weft threads dyed with plant dyes as an accent.
In addition, Atelier Shimura staff will be available at all times at the venue to explain kimonos and obi, and to help you choose the perfect combination. Advance registration is required for this event, and only successful applicants can participate. Applications are accepted from November 29th until 11:00 AM on December 5th. For details on dates, times, and how to register, please visit the event page (http://www.1101.com/tobichi/shimuramina2017/index.html).

In addition, on December 8th, the first day of the event, there will be a one-hour talk show starting at 7 PM featuring Akira Minagawa, Atelier Shimura representative Shoji Shimura, and Shigesato Itoi on the theme of the future of "manufacturing." Those wishing to participate will need a numbered ticket, which will be issued from 11am on the day.
Other events will also be held from 6pm on the 16th, including a kimono talk event entitled "People Wearing Shimura's Kimono and Mina's Obi," as well as a "Shop in Tobichi" which will sell sukiya bags and business card holders made with the same pattern as Mina's obi, as well as Atelier Shimura's stoles and framed kogire (cloths).
Whether you're someone who's always wanted a kimono of your own, or someone who thinks kimonos aren't your thing, why not come along to the venue where you can discover new values and a new you?
