On the 15th, the men's brand "The viridi-anne" relocated from Gaienmae to Ebisu (3-42-12 Ebisu, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo) and reopened.
The new store is located in a residential area. The first floor of an apartment building is used as the store, and the second floor is used as an atelier. The space was formerly occupied by an Italian restaurant. "We deliberately chose to operate in an area with no fashion shops nearby. It's a bit of a walk from the station, but we hope that customers will take their time to browse the products," said press representative Masayuki Nonaka.
The interior features exposed concrete walls and ceilings, lighting, and air conditioning. Most of the space was demolished when the previous tenant left. "The concept for the store was still in development. We liked the crumbling feel, concrete atmosphere, and exposed staircase, which reminded us of an overseas atelier, so we decided on this location," Nonaka explains.
A space separated by a clear partition has been installed to the right of the entrance. Currently, the shop has 2013-2014 autumn/winter products on display. "We will be showcasing our autumn/winter products in advance for customers who come to the main store, and we will use it as a press room that we can rent out to stylists. We also plan to hold events such as semi-order events. We want to be able to show our customers the shop, press room, and atelier, so that even our most core fans can enjoy it," said the same person.
Opening hours are from 12 noon to 8pm, and the shop is closed on Thursdays. The viridi-anne was founded in 2001 by designer Okaniwa Tomoaki. After stints in Harajuku and Gaienmae, the shop has now moved to Ebisu. It is currently holding an exhibition in Paris.
