The complex space CASICA opened in Shinkiba, Tokyo on November 9th. Based on the concept of "visualizing living time and space," it visualizes a fresh sensation in an attractively styled space where things created by diverse eras, regions, and people, such as furniture, products, art, design, artisans and workshops, food, health, video, and voices, are all gathered together.
The approximately 1000m2 store is home to a shop that reconsiders and reconstructs the appeal of objects regardless of era, price, country, or ethnicity; a small gallery with a 13-meter atrium; a cafe that combines international cuisine with medicinal foods to provide a delicious treatment for body and mind; an atelier that researches and repairs antique furniture and recreates it into modern versions; and a video production office that operates CASICA, as well as a film studio and recording room that utilizes that know-how.
By bringing together items that have never been handled in the same space before, new creations for the future will be born and transformed into exciting new things. It seems likely that many such moments will be created.
