Tabisuru Shintora Market, a new style of shopping facility where themes and participating municipalities change every three months and where visitors can enjoy seasonal gourmet food and local specialties from all over Japan, kicked off its autumn chapter, "A Refreshing Gathering: A Craft Village Nurtured by a Rich Natural Environment," on October 4th! Six municipalities—Yahiko Village, Izumozaki Town, and Awashimaura Village in Niigata Prefecture; Suzuka City and Komono Town in Mie Prefecture; and Hioki City in Kagoshima Prefecture—gathered to showcase masterpieces and local specialties curated by buyers from Mitsukoshi Isetan under the theme of "crafts" and "gathering." Yahiko Village in Niigata Prefecture, blessed with clean water resources and a developed forging technique for hammering metals such as tin and lead, will be showcasing Seigado's round sake cups (tin, small, from ¥6,001 including tax) and small sake bottles (copper, small, ¥12,000 including tax). The sake vessels, which feel comfortable in the hand and have a soft feel, are excellent items that would make a wonderful gift. Izumozaki Town will be selling socks (3,456 yen each, tax included) from Kaneko Knitting, a company that manufactures and sells items made from silk knit.
