To commemorate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the fashion magazine "Soen," the exhibition "The History of Soen and the Soen Award" will be held at the Bunka Gakuen Costume Museum in Yoyogi, Tokyo, from the 3rd of next month.
The exhibition will display 850 issues of "Soen," from the first issue to the latest, as well as 84 works that have won the Soen Award, looking back on the roles and history of each magazine and trends in Japanese fashion. A gallery talk by the editor-in-chief will also be held on July 20th and September 14th at 1:30 pm (first 30 people).
Soen, founded in 1936 by the Bunka Gakuen Publishing Bureau, is Japan's longest-running fashion magazine. The Soen Award was launched in 1956, 20 years after the magazine's founding. It has produced some of the world's top designers, including Kenzo Takada and Yohji Yamamoto, as well as Junko Koshino and Yoshiki Hishinuma. Takahashi Yusuke, who was recently appointed designer for Issey Miyake Men, is the 83rd recipient of the award.
