Moynat, a long-established bag brand backed by Arnault, will hold pop-up shops around the world

Jun 27, 2013

French bag brand MOYNAT will open its first pop-up shop at the Galeries Lafayette department store in Paris on July 8th. The shop will then tour five continents for a six-month period. A Japan event is also planned.

The shop, named "Le Moynat Trunk Show," will feature the brand's signature handbags, including the Pauline, Rejane, and Quattro.

The brand also created a new "Limousine" bag specifically for the occasion. It features Moynat's iconic key lock design and goatskin lines, and is available in four colors: taupe, petrol blue, greige, and sky blue. It will be priced at 2,500 euros (approximately 320,000 yen). The pop-up shop was designed by interior designer Gwanael Nicolas, who also worked on the Louis Vuitton Ginza Namiki-dori store. The motif is a giant transparent trunk inspired by a signature item created in 1902, a trunk designed to fit the shape of a car roof. Moynat was founded in 1849 as a brand of travel bags and travel accessories. Since 1875, it has also produced women's handbags. The business closed in 1976, but in 2010, the private company of LVMH Group CEO Bernard Arnault acquired the brand and opened a shop in Paris in November 2011.
