The second Issey Miyake flagship store opens in Ginza, creating a new "Issey Miyake Ginza"

Sep 1, 2017

Following the new store that opened on Renga Dori in July this year, the second ISSEY MIYAKE store, ISSEY MIYAKE GINZA, opened on September 1st on Gaslight Street in Ginza 4-chome, Tokyo (4-4-5 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo). The store spans two floors, the first and second floors, and has a floor area of approximately 567 square meters. It will carry PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE, me ISSEY MIYAKE, BAO BAO ISSEY MIYAKE, as well as limited edition products, IKKO TANAKA ISSEY MIYAKE, and HaaT's new line ORJ. Ahead of the opening, a press day was held on August 30th, revealing the interior of the store. The ELTTOB TEP ISSEY MIYAKE / GINZA store, which opened in 2011, has been renovated and reopened as the second ISSEY MIYAKE GINZA. While the ISSEY MIYAKE GINZA on Brick Street focuses on collection lines, the new store opening on Gas Lamp Street will feature brand items with a focus on products. The two ISSEY MIYAKE GINZA stores are seen as one, promoting the joy of craftsmanship. The interior, designed by Taku Satoh, features a minimalist space with a neutral white theme, including repainting the walls white, to maximize the appeal of each brand. The materials, fixtures, and sofas, which are said to be inspired by cupcakes, underscore the sophisticated yet playful atmosphere befitting a Ginza store. On the first floor, Pleats Please Issey Miyake, Mee Issey Miyake, and Bao Bao Issey Miyake will be on sale. Pleats Please Issey Miyake will be selling a limited-edition black pullover with diagonal pleats (one style), while Mee Issey Miyake will be selling limited-edition bags in three colors: blue-green, navy, and orange. Bao Bao Issey Miyake will also be releasing a limited-edition iridescent bag available only at its street-level stores. On the second floor, in addition to Homme Plissé Issey Miyake and Bao Bao Issey Miyake, the store will also sell IKKO TANAKA ISSEY MIYAKE, which uses the work of graphic designer Ikko Tanaka as its motif, and ORJ, a new line from Heart, a brand inspired by textiles.

In addition, to commemorate the opening of the new store, Issey Miyake Ginza on Renga Dori is also selling limited edition products such as pants featuring a jacquard-woven map of Ginza, where the store has two locations.
