Two photobooks featuring the past 100 Dries Van Noten shows are now on sale!

Sep 1, 2017

Following its 100th show in March, Dries Van Noten will be releasing two books documenting every show from its first to the present. Divided into two volumes, "Dries Van Noten 1-50" and "Dries Van Noten 51-100," covering shows from the first to the 50th, the books are like a retrospective of the brand, showcasing everything from the runway to backstage, invitations, select show venues, and stage productions, with over 2,000 photos, including some never-before-seen shots. The content delves into the designer's work and aesthetic, documenting the thoughts behind each collection. Each show is accompanied by commentary by renowned journalists, with Susannah Frankel (women's designer) and Tim Blanks (men's designer), detailing the inspiration, creative sources, background, and story behind each collection. Designer Dries Van Noten was born in Antwerp, Belgium in 1958. Since launching his label in 1985, he has been highly praised for his innovative use of prints, embroidery, colors, and fabrics, as well as his aesthetic eye for these. Regarding the publication of this book, he commented, "I like the idea of this book as a way to celebrate my past, because now I can focus solely on the future and my further evolution as a designer. The 100th show is truly a celebration, and I wanted to keep this show in my memory for years to come. I am very happy to have been able to compile all of my shows in this way."
