The 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, is hosting an exhibition of German designer Jurgen Lehl's work, "Jurgen Lehl: The End of Civilization," through November 5th. Jurgen lived in harmony with nature in his beachside home in Okinawa, conveying its preciousness. Before his sudden death in 2014, he believed that the small contributions of each individual could become a great force, and he wanted people to consider small steps to prevent the "end of civilization." This exhibition offers an opportunity to experience Jurgen's vision. For his "final project," Jurgen chose to create beautiful lighting fixtures from discarded plastic that washes up on the shores of Ishigaki Island and is never recycled. The radiant lighting in this exhibition conveys Jurgen's light and powerful message. Also on display are "Babaghuri" agate stones, which Jurgen collected over the years, captivated by their unique beauty. Babaghuri, the name of the brand he launched in 2006, carries a strong message about living with respect for nature.
