Aug 5, 2017

From September 1 to October 1, CHANEL Nexus Hall will host "DEPARDON / TOKYO 1964-2016," photographer Raymond Depardon's first solo exhibition in Japan, marking his final exhibition of 2017.

A member of Magnum Photos, renowned as one of the world's leading photography collectives, Depardon has made a name for himself in the field of journalism. He is also highly sought after for his photographs capturing beautiful landscapes and unpretentious people from around the world.

The exhibition features photographs taken by Depardon during his visits to Japan, from the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, which marked his first visit to Japan, to newly shot color images of Tokyo in 2016 ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Captured through the eyes of this exceptional photographer, these works offer a glimpse of Tokyo, a city that blends seamlessly into everyday life and often goes unnoticed, while also symbolizing the past and present of Depardon, a photographer revered worldwide.
