The food floor on the basement floor of the main building of Isetan Shinjuku celebrated the 10th anniversary of its floor renovation in June this year. To commemorate this, the 7th Mitsukoshi Isetan Food Famous Shops Association Thanksgiving Festival is being held, showcasing and selling a selection of new and old hit items. For a limited two-week period from August 23rd to September 5th, the festival will feature special gourmet dishes, including flavors that were popular 10 years ago and updated versions of classic items. (The store will be closed on August 29th.) This festival was made possible by buyers working with the Mitsukoshi Isetan Food Famous Shops Association, which is made up of all the stores on Mitsukoshi Isetan's food floor. First, let's introduce five recommended prepared food items selected by Kanaya, who is in charge of the food floor. 
"Uokyu" Gindara Kyoto Kasuzuke (Grilled Fish)

1 slice / ¥1,000 (Limited to 20 per day) 
"Uokyu in Ningyocho usually only sells its Gindara Kyoto Kasuzuke. This time, we'll be specially grilling it in-store, professionally grilled to perfection," says Kanaya. The aroma of this Kyoto Kasuzuke grilled fish, which can only be found at the main Ningyocho store, is sure to whet your appetite. It's rare, with only 20 pieces per day available for five days. *Sales suspended on August 27th only.
"Sanpiroron Kasahara Shoten" Special Mackerel Sushi Roll

1 roll / ¥1,200 (Limit 10 per day) 
"This mackerel sushi roll was specially made for us by Chef Kasahara of Sanpiroron, a restaurant that is often booked out. It combines flavorful vinegared rice made with buckwheat and mixed grain rice with fatty mackerel, making it a great gift." This is also a specialty item, with only 10 available per day, so it's sure to be a hot item.
"Yusoku" Chakin Sushi Ultimate

1 roll / ¥1,000 
"Yusoku is a renowned sushi restaurant in Akasaka, known for its sushi that has even been served at Imperial Garden Parties. We're offering a special version of their signature chakin sushi, adding king crab and pickled lotus root. This hearty chakin sushi is delicious sliced and eaten," says Kanaya.
"Kojima Shoten" Domestic Veal Cutlet Sandwich

3 slices / ¥1,100 (Limited to 50 packs per day) 
"This special cutlet sandwich features veal cutlets from Kojima Shoten, a long-established butcher shop known as "Kojima of Veal," sandwiched between Maison Kayser bread. This will be available for a limited six-day demo sale." This is your only chance to enjoy a freshly made cutlet sandwich made with thick, tender veal! Both the meat and the bread are carefully selected for the exquisite taste. Hotel Okura Chicken Doria

"We've prepared the popular Chicken Doria from Hotel Okura, considered a pioneer of Western cuisine in Japan. This is a revival menu item, recreating that flavor in response to customer requests," says Kanaya.
