Kenzo, designed by Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, held simultaneous shows for their men's and women's Spring/Summer 2018 collections in the courtyard of the Camille Say High School in the Commerce district of Paris's 15th arrondissement. The collection was inspired by two muses, Sayoko Yamaguchi and Ryuichi Sakamoto, past and present. The musician and activist, Ryuichi Sakamoto, was seen as a figure who advocated evolution, innovation, enlightenment, and improvement, and served as the inspiration for the men's collection. Taking inspiration from Sakamoto's style of the 1980s, the collection incorporated British tailoring, elements of 1950s Japanese baseball, oversized shoulders, and high-waisted details. Using portraits of Sakamoto as a motif, the collection showcased Kenzo's signature pop and free-spirited expression. For women's, the collection drew inspiration from Sayoko Yamaguchi, the ancestor of supermodels and a muse for Kenzo Takada. Inspired by Yamaguchi Sayoko at the time, who beautifully wore Takada Kenzo's layered print outfits, the collection featured a variety of print motifs, including crossing stripes and florals. As with the men's collection, there was an intriguing contrast between mannish items such as strong-shoulder jackets and baseball shirts and girly pieces such as ruffled dresses and sequin-embroidered mini dresses.

The common keyword for both men's and women's was "Hyper," inspired by the fact that both Sakamoto Ryuichi and Yamaguchi Sayoko expressed their own ideas without being bound by trends. For women's, "Satori" also appeared as a keyword to represent Yamaguchi Sayoko's divine talent for expression, and each word became a symbol of the collection.
