Van Gogh, who loved Japan, and the Japanese who admired him. "Van Gogh: The Traveling Dream of Japan" Exhibition touring three cities

Jul 13, 2017

The touring exhibition "Van Gogh: The Traveling Dream of Japan" will open at the Hokkaido Museum of Art from August 26th, at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum from October 24th, and at the National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto from January 20th, 2018. This time, "Self-Portrait as Artist," a particularly large and meticulously executed self-portrait from a series of self-portraits painted during the same period, will return to Japan for the second time in 12 years. The depiction of the blue jacket, covered with delicate brushstrokes, and the palette of primary colors fully demonstrate the color expression acquired during Van Gogh's stay in Paris. Furthermore, "Pair Tickets" (two tickets for ¥2,000) valid for the Tokyo exhibition will be on sale until August 13th. In addition to regular advance tickets available from July 20th to October 23rd, a limited number of "Special Lecture Set Tickets" (¥3,800) will be available, including tickets to a lecture by novelist Maha Harada on November 18th.
