Y-3's Spring/Summer 2018 collection was held at the Cité de la Mode et du Design in Paris on June 25th. This season, the brand refocused on its connection to street culture. The theme was to reaffirm the essence and vision of sports style, with a lineup of powerful, urban looks that reimagined Adidas' signature three stripes. The show began with a relaxed black wardrobe. The three stripes, with varying pitches, danced down the runway on irregularly patterned dresses, jumpsuits, and track pants. The collection also featured a wide variety of outerwear, including a Tyvek bench coat, a flight jacket with an accentuated crinkle texture, a bomber jacket with an exaggerated silhouette, and a seamless hoodie. Following the white and gray looks was an all-over botanical print by fashion designer Hiroshi Hayashi, a collaborator with the brand since its founding. Long button-down shirts, voluminous sarouel pants, and cropped jackets all feature lavish prints, creating a sense of freedom befitting spring and summer. T-shirts also feature jungle-inspired motifs, such as palm trees and wild animals, creating a mood that contrasts sharply with the brand's futuristic image. The brand's approach of making a statement with original graphic motifs was also refreshing. This season's footwear also sees a bold overhaul. A wide range of shoes are available, including the "SUBEROU" slip-on training shoe with a logo on the upper, the "BASHYO" shoe, which combines leather and rubber with stretch canvas, the new "SAIKOU" shoe, which incorporates adidas' BOOST™ foam, and the "KUSARI" shoe with a side-lacing system. In addition to the classic backpacks and body bags, a large-capacity knapsack is also introduced.
