Lladro releases chandelier worth 1.3 million yen at Shinjuku Isetan

Jul 6, 2014

Lladró is hosting an event showcasing its 2014 new products, "Gifts from Valencia - Lladró," in the banquet room on the 7th floor of the main building of the Isetan Shinjuku store. The event runs until July 7th. While the brand is well-known for its luxury porcelain, in recent years it has also been focusing on interior décor, including chandeliers, table lamps, and mirrors. In addition to its popular pieces, the event will showcase its lighting collection and table art, focusing on its 2014 new releases and pieces available exclusively at the store. From its new collection, "Belle de Nuit," characterized by the classic form of porcelain and vibrant colors, comes a porcelain chandelier (made to order for 1.3 million yen). While crystal glass is the norm for chandeliers, the use of porcelain creates a different light, illuminating the room with a soft, elegant glow and creating a warm atmosphere. "Blooming Life" (¥386,000), expressing the most beautiful moment in life, depicts a unique motherhood in the Art Nouveau style. Art Nouveau, which flourished in the late 19th century, is characterized by decorative motifs of women and plants. This is in line with the brand's specialty in feminine and floral motifs. More than 10 different colorful flowers bloom against the background of the mother embracing her child, and the draped details of the dress blend into the background, showcasing the brand's sophisticated craftsmanship. "Dancers of the Nile" (¥330,000), featuring two young dancers, is part of the "Re-Deco" series. Re-Deco refers to the process of intentionally changing an existing piece to a neutral color and then adding gold or platinum accents to create a completely new piece. Also appearing in the Horse collection, a dynamic piece especially popular with men, is a new piece, "Independence and Self-Respect" (¥228,000). This piece expresses the powerful impulse of a horse seeking freedom. By deliberately finishing it in white porcelain, the shadows are clearly visible and the fine movements of the muscles are emphasized.
