Men's Non-no model Rafael Lima Ito's painting exhibition to be held in Yokohama

Jul 6, 2014

Artist Rafael Lima Ito, who has also worked as a fashion model for MEN'S NON-NO, HUgE, and FUDGE, will be holding his solo exhibition "i PoLA" in Yokohama from July 6th to July 16th. Admission is free.

His previous works include "Tobia," a boy born from a story he created for his own brand, RAFAEL, as well as flowers, everyday landscapes, and portraits of famous people.

This exhibition features a series of 10 new oil paintings depicting moments of people he encounters in everyday life, framed in eight different patterns: flowers, dots, checks, camouflage, stripes, stars, rainbows, and paisley, resembling Polaroid photographs.

The series will also be available online as print items such as posters and cards, which can be easily framed and purchased. Rafael says, "This series was born from a natural blending of fashion and my own creative activities. I wanted to try something similar: buyers would see the original drawings, which I created in the same way that brands make samples, and then order copies."

Rafael was born in Pelém, Brazil in 1984. He made his debut as a model for MEN'S NON-NO in 2001. Since his first solo exhibition in 2008, he has held solo exhibitions every year at Kabutoya Gallery in Ginza.
